The next Sunday working bee is on 22 November from 9am to 12pm at Ruby McKenzie park off Tennyson Street in Woodend.
We’ll meet at the weir.
Tasks include removing redundant plant guards, whipper snipping around recent plantings, watering of recent plantings and some cutting and poisoning of woody weeds.
The tool trailer will be on site and morning tea is provided.

Our working bees are an essential part of the work we do and, as we often say, may hands make light work. If you’ve not been before give it a go! Our ‘bees’ are fun and we have a great morning tea.
This time we’ll be planting 90 plants in amongst a previous planting, doing some brush cutting of long grass and watering a previous planting near the weir so, there’s a range of tasks to suit everyone.
When: Sunday 25 October 9am to midday
Where: Tennyson Street willow site
Parking: Parking is at the south end of Tennyson St or next to the walking track in Five Mile Creek Reserve.
What to bring: Please wear boots, gloves, a hat, and sun protection and BYO water bottle. The tool trailer will be on site and morning tea is provided.
This working bee will conclude our Spring plantings so don’t miss the chance to contribute to help restore this degraded section of the creek to an indigenous state.

Thank you to everyone who helped plant at the Woodend Children’s Park on Saturday 12 September. With over 30 people helping out we managed to get all 1,800 plants planted in just five hours – must have been Susan and Chris’ awesome morning tea that kept everyone going!
Time now for another working bee. On Sunday 27 September we’re meeting near the weir off Tennyson Street at 9am and topping up the Trees for Mum 2013 planting and then heading to Buffalo Stadium to top up the 2014 Trees for Mum site.
There are only about 30 plants to plants… but many hands make light work and there is bound to be some weeding to do too.
All plants and equipment provided. Please wear gloves, boots and sun protection.

Saturday 12 September Spring Planting event
We’d love some help at our Spring planting event on Saturday.
We’ll be at the Woodend Children’s Park in Nicholson Street (behind Mitre 10) from 9am.
We’ll be planting into this weed mat so the little plants get the best start in life.
Bring a friend or three, we’ve got 1,800 plants to plant! Morning tea provided to keep you going. Please wear gum boots and gloves.

Working bee Sunday 23 August
What: Site preparation on the creek flats at the Children’s Park, the location for major planting on 12 September.
When: 9am – noon, Campaspe Park, north side of Five Mile Creek, near the single tennis court.
Do: Cutting and pasting weeds, removing old blackberry canes, whipper snipping on the banks. Generally tidying up the site.
Bring: Gumboots, gloves, whipper snipper
Eat/drink: Hot drinks and morning tea provided
