Last working bee for the season

Our last Sunday working bee for the Summer/Autumn season will be on the 26th of May from 9am till 12pm. The location is Slatey Creek Reserve, 1.4 km from the traffic lights along Ashbourne Road. This reserve is mostly managed by nearby residents and our Landcare group helps out every twelve to eighteen months with weed control mainly.

There are some smaller gorse bushes, blackberries and Hawthorns to deal with, some plant guard maintenance/removal and a check for any rubbish. The work at this reserve is generally easier than some sites along Five Mile Creek and a good turnout enables most of the area to be gone over in one working bee.

Bring along gloves, secateurs, eye protection, sturdy footwear and suitable full length clothing. Morning tea is provided. Parking is along the No Through Road within the reserve. This is a pleasant area to work in so we hope to see you there.

Please note there will be no Sunday working bees in June and July and we will resume again on the fourth Sunday in August. We’ll still be sending out our monthly news and over the next few months , we’ll have the spotlight turned on some of our Landcare members, sharing their gardens with you and inspiring you with ideas and important things to think about.

Dr. Graeme Coulson is an Honorary Principal Fellow at Melbourne University in the School of BioSciences, Zoology Department.
