The Pollinator Project

Woodend Landcare is proud to be part of the Polllinator Project run by the Upper Campaspe Landcare Network (UCLN). The project aims to increase habitat, the diversity of pollinators, and pollination activities in our natural environment and gardens by linking and enhancing suitable patches for our insect bird and mammals species.

Woodend Landcare is supporting the Pollinator Project by bolstering understorey and ground cover plants along riparian biolinks such as Five Mile Creek. Indigenous understorey shrubs, herbs and grasses provide food and shelter for small birds and insects, which are the main pollinators in natural ecosystems.

When complete, Woodend Landcare will have planted approximately 700 indigenous understorey seedlings along Five Mile Creek to help boost pollinator populations in Woodend.

You can take part in the Pollinator Project by learning more about the species found in your garden and nearby natural places.

Even better, you can help encourage pollinators in your patch. To get you started, the Pollinator Project also created a very handy plant guide for local pollinating insects. Click here to view a copy of the guide.
