The Best Nest: Landcare

The Best Nest is an interactive space that seeks to create and celebrate the hidden homes of our fine-feathered friends. It offers little people and big people an opportunity to work together to construct a nest made from natural and recycled materials. “I love my house, I love my nest, in all the world, my nest is best” sings the Mother Bird in the book The Best Nest. We invite you to join us to investigate and explore what makes The Best Nest.

Krista Patterson-Majoor and Sam Ford live on the edge of Woodend with their two children Banjo and Daisy. They enjoy being in the bush and sharing the wonders of the natural world with children….more on The Best Nest here

It’s going to be 12 degrees tomorrow, so come indoors and listen to Tanya Loos present Six Seasons (see previous blog entry for more information) after our AGM.

Tanya’s book has had great press coverage and she is a lively and knowledgeable speaker about nature, particularly in Central Victoria. Will get you in the mood for Spring for sure.

AGM_2014Woodend Landcare invites all members and friends to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday,12 July 2014 from 1.30pm at Woodend Neighbourhood House, 47 Forest Street, Woodend.

The AGM will be followed at 2.30pm by “Six seasons in the foothills forest”.  Speaker Tanya Loos, naturalist, columnist and author of Daylesford Nature Diary will discuss 10 years of observations in the Wombat Forest, marking six, not four, seasons through weather patterns and the behaviour of flora and fauna.

 Afternoon tea follows.  All welcome.  Gold coin donation.

ACUPOur neighbours at Newham & District Landcare, with support from Macedon Ranges Shire Council, are pleased to offer local Landcare groups the opportunity to undertake the Agricultural Chemical Users Course at a greatly reduced rate.

Macedon Ranges Shire Council invites you to the launch of its fauna monitoring program.
